Sojourners

For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Phil. 1:21

I’ve been thinking and reading a lot about Abraham, and what the bible has to say about him in the new testament. He lived in tents his whole life, and sought a city with foundations, whos Builder and Maker is God. Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.

These things are the inspiration for my song ‘The Cost.’ I hope the lyrics will bring encouragement of our hope in heaven.

The Cost lyrics:

Father, help me let go of what I need to call done
Help me cling to the hand of Your perfect guiding Son
Help me put away what needs to be through
And live my every day devoted to You

I need not bear the cost of being lost in this earth
I’m gonna put my treasure where it has eternal worth
For me to live is Christ and to die is gain
And heaven’s where true life begins so while I’m here I’ll live for His name
Yeah Lord I’ll live for Your name

We like to live for power or position or we just live in the past
We store up all our treasure where it isn’t gonna last
We live for today, and we ignore what’s on the way
We pass up what’s great so we can have what’s okay

I need not bear the cost of being lost in this earth
I’m gonna put my treasure where it has eternal worth
For me to live is Christ and to die is gain
And heaven’s where true life begins so while I’m here I’ll live for His name
Yeah Lord I’ll live for Your name

This life is a vapor we will soon go away
We will rise, we will fly, it’s gonna be a glorious day
These tents we’ll leave behind, with the garbage we accrue
We look with joy to find eternity to be with You, with You

With my hands I lift my heart to the sky
I give all that I am to the Lord on high
I’ll never stray from the way there is only one
I run the race to embrace the Son
